Homes with Acreage -- Dallas Area When people think of relocating to Texas, they usually imagine moving to a ranch with acres of land and no neighbors in sight. However, in the Dallas area, although there are still some ranches around (e.g., Southfork Ranch from the TV series "Dallas"), most homes are built on a standard 70 by 120 foot lot. As the price and size of the homes increases, bigger homes require larger lots -- with many needing a half acre. On this site, you will find some of the housing communities offering homes on lots of a minimum of 1 acre. You will notice that most of the acreage propery is in the far northeast to northwest areas of the Dallas area. Also note that not every lot in any given development may be acreage in size.
